Oct 21 & Oct 23 7:30-11:15 (TOTAL HOURS: 70.5)

This week was primarily devoted to organizing the files and running them through the program I created. I also took the time to carefully document each step of the process and arrange the original text files in a way that future archivists can easily follow and replicate for years to come. My goal was to make the workflow both intuitive and sustainable, ensuring that the project remains accessible long after my practicum ends.

How I took the photos of all of Jane's notes (I strapped my phone to a light with some extra string I found, and took this photo with my laptop. Points for ingenuity?)

In line with what I’ve been learning in my archival and data curation courses, I made sure that all files are saved in universal formats so that changes in computer systems or software updates won’t compromise their usability. The collection now includes not only Jane’s original handwritten materials, but also digital scans, organized text file transcriptions, and a comprehensive spreadsheet for improved readability and data access. Essentially, I’ve been working to make this archive as seamless and timeless as possible—a digital system built to last.
